About
from the fanlistings.org
A fanlisting is simply an online list of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are), they are just a place where you can sign up with other fans. TheFanlistings.org is the original (but not official) web directory for fanlistings, dedicated to uniting the fans.

Fanlisting are just a way to show you're fan of something. They're similar to web-cliques, but the only thing you need to get listed is that you live somewhere and (often) a working email-address.
Fanlistings can either be official or unofficial, approved or unapproved. Official fanlisting are authorized or supported by the subject of the site, but fanlisting are mostly made by fans.
Approved fanlisting can be various things, but mostly means that are listed at the fanlisting network or at the anime fanlisting network. There are also other sites that approves fanlisting, so "approved" doesn't necessarily means listed at tfl or tafl.
